Memorial Day; what does it mean to you? Family gatherings? Great Sales? A trip to the cemetery to decorate graves? Has your family lost a relative to service in the military? Mine hasn’t. I did have a couple of uncles–and a cousin who served in the wars, but . . . no fallen heroes to memorialize. Still . . .
Time can gentle the heart’s memories till there are no hard edges or rough smudges.
Or it can chisel certain events to such razor points that the heart is afraid to get too close for fear of the cut.
Some memories are such blessings; especially those you know beyond a shadow of doubt are divine appointments, like Fairchild’s, Her Majesty’s English Tea Room in Dunlap, Illinois. Recently, I participated in just such an appointment.
