Comes the time in everyone’s life, when Help is needed!

Baby Cathryn

HELP! On the way back to Texas from a visit with my cousin in New Jersey, our car broke down in Georgia. Did I mention Ron and I were young then and we had three children in the car under the age of ten? HELP! Two boys (5 and 6) and a girl (not yet two). Ron took the two boys in the front and I got the back seat with baby Cathryn, still nursing at the time. (SO WHAT if she was THREE before I weaned her! tee hee hee)

truck stopAs we neared Atlanta, the alternator light came on. HELP! The battery wasn’t getting charged! We made it to a truck stop on the highway and decided to spend the night there. What a miserable, sleepless night! Besides the kids, all the eighteen wheelers coming and going! Mercy!

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5

And God did give us mercy to make it through. In the morning–when we wouldn’t need the headlights–we got to a repair place that confirmed Ron’s diagnosis. We had enough money for gas, driving straight through to home, but not if we had to buy the alternator. We were young and on a shoestring and trusting on God to get us home. No credit cards, no cell phone. And they wouldn’t take a check!

golden archesHey, we’re out of town Christians needing HELP! What do you do? Call a church! We explained our predicament and that we just needed to cash a check. The two churches said they couldn’t help, so I asked if they knew anyone in the Christian Businessmen’s Fellowship. We called the contact number and the man on the other end promised to meet us at McDonald’s and cashed our check. He bought our lunch and insisted on twice the amount we asked for.

“Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.” Proverbs 3:28

As we were leaving and thanking the man, the boys somehow dropped the keys down a weather drain. Yes, at the McDonald’s. The HELP God sent drove off and the oldest boy got it through to us that the younger boy had–ooops–dropped the keys . . . but that’s a whole nother story!

I just know He’s done it for you, too, as He is not a respecter of persons!

When did YOU need HELP and God sent it?
