How’s your ability to Focus?
How do you figure Love fits into Focus?
At times, tunnel vision is very irritating to those around that person who is totally absorbed in a task. But if you’re on the operating table, you want your doctor focused on what he’s doing. A doctor needs focus. Whenever I teach writing, I explain that the number one thing a writer has to do is sit in their chair in front of the computer, put their fingers on the keyboard, and type. A writer needs focus.
School teachers, cab drivers, lawyers, movie directors, pilots, cashiers . . . cooks, waitresses, bankers . . . they all need focus. Who doesn’t need to focus at one time or another? If one lacks focus, finding it difficult to drum up enough self-discipline to make themselves concentrate on a task to its completion, then #1 ask the Lord to increase the love in your heart. Love is kind, patient, long-suffering, not envious, jealous, proud, or easily provoked and never behaves badly or think of evil—-all the qualities that allow a person to focus.
What about when praying or studying the Word? Do a million other thought and ideas interrupt and vie for attention? The Word says ask and you will be given. So if you’re having trouble completing a task that must be finished, and then ask our Father, His Word says we have not because we ask not. The promise is there. God is not a liar; if He says it, then it is Truth. So, #2 Ask and #3 Claim the promises of God! Love #4 Believes all things.
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you. Luke 11:9a
One of the things I love about my husband is his ability to untie knots. That man can focus on a task and stay with it until the little boy’s shoestring is untied or the fishing line is untangled—-amazing to me. Love is patient. Focus often requires #4 Patience.
On the other hand, I tend to juggle numerous tasks at the same time. When I come to each one, I totally focus on that task until it’s either completed or I need information, causing me to go on to another task.

We should all strive to be like Jesus who set His face like flint when it was time for the man to travel to Jerusalem and become the Lamb of God. I absolutely cannot imagine the love it took for Him to focus on that task Father God had put before him until it was finished, but He did and I praise God for that Love!
For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. Isaiah 50:7
Do you have any other practical suggestions to offer that would help our sisters to focus?
