Not much makes me feel better than chatting with fellow sisters-in-Christ who share my love, awe, and respect of Abba, our Creator.
I felt alone the other morning. Very lonely. Like I had no one to talk to or understand what trials life tossed my way. I didn’t want to burden my precious Mother or sweet daughter. It was one of those blue, depressing days. I let my little dog outside and told him to “make it quick.”
As I leaned against the door and watched the sunrise, so gorgeous! I heard a symphony of birds. Yes, they made me smile despite my gloom, and there happened to be a new guy singing I’d never heard. He sat in the tree closest to the front door. He called a quick two notes repeated four times in rapid fire, as if that bird sang to me, saying “sister, sister, sister, sister.” Four sisters!
Isn’t that just like a loving Father to brighten my day? Not just with the beauty of nature and its gorgeous sunrise, but by having a little bird remind me that I am not alone.
“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26
An entire community of sisters-in-Christ exists out there, waiting to talk to me, pray with me and for me, and help me however they can. One of my closest friends calls me her SIC, sister-in-Christ, and understands completely what life has thrust at me.
Abba reminded me I’m definitely not alone. With just a phone call, I could talk to my SIC and feel much better, especially after we prayed.
–A younger perspective on Sister Benefits–
I could get on Facebook and ask my sisters-in-Christ in Heart”wings”-a women’s fellowship group to pray for and encourage me. Better still, my Heavenly Father is always with me. Me lonely? What was I thinking?
“… and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:20
Never am I alone! I am a child of God and have many sisters. There’s an incredible family that loves and supports me. Actually, two families: a biological one and Abba’s.
Are you lonely? Listen for ways God is talking to you and encouraging you. He will give you joy to replace the sadness. Reminding you of what you have and encouraging you are only two of His wonderful gifts. Another is this great big family of believers filled with many sisters-in-Christ.
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3
How I love the family of God!
Do you realize how many sisters you have?
