Memory of Heart”wings” – a women’s fellowship’s Beginning
On a Saturday evening in late February, 2015, our small church family held a fellowship dinner joined by Greg and Sandy Waggoner. The evening was a huge success as Sandy, Greg, and a member of our church family put on a humorous skit she had written followed by Greg singing a mixture of Southern Gospel, Cowboy Gospel, and Western trail music.
Sandy is a Christian author of mostly children‘s books, and he’s the “Cowboy” Preacher. As the Greg Waggoner Ministry, they travel all around our beautiful country sharing their love in devoted ministry with people of all ages. They hail from Amarillo, Texas where he pastored for twenty-one years before God led him into evangelism, and they are long-time friends of our pastor.
Here’s their link:
The next day at both church services, they continued to minister as Greg preached and sang more for us. By the end of the evening service, they’d filled my heart to the brim, completely “overflowing” with my love of God. For the next several days, I prayed He would show me how I could be used to further His work. I could not stop thinking about a Facebook ministry and forming a fellowship group for Christian women to “get together” in loving support of one another.
As I continued praying, I began to feel strong nudges to keep going. Washing the breakfast dishes I suddenly felt His “yes” speaking to my heart and immediately began thinking about a name for the group.
I was thinking “heart-something” . . . when suddenly I saw and heard: Heart”wings!”
I honestly believe that God is actually hand-picking the ladies for this group and then presenting them for admittance to Heart”wings.” As we begin our second year, we now have members from all around the world, all walks of faith, and are populated by a mixture of pastor’s, minister’s wives, missionaries, Christian authors, bloggers, inspirational speakers, counselors, teachers, nurses, etc., as well as ordinary women like myself, striving to obediently serve our loving God. Yes, Sandy Waggoner is a member!
I also believe that He is directing all of this knowing that as He joins more and more hearts together for His purpose, He can better use each and every one of us to serve Him to His honor and glory, sharing His great love for His children and our personal testimonies to reach out and bring others for salvation. To keep our hearts open to the needs of others is the basic thought that stays foremost in all of our minds.
As we move forward, watching God grow and bless His group, this new blog will take His purpose “public”- so we, His daughters, may share His great Love and shine His light to a larger audience. United by our love of God, we are sisters in Christ now and throughout eternity!
I would like for my beloved co-administrator Caryl Lawrence McAdoo to finish this opening blog message and continue on from her viewpoint. She became a member of Heart”wings” in October, 2015 as a result of one of God’s “fishing” expeditions. She is the brains behind our blog and has done an amazing job – all to God’s glory, because that is who Caryl is. It is always about obeying and loving God. (This portion authored by Joyce Graves)
From Caryl: God took me on an amazing journey in 2015 with the early goal of independently releasing eleven new titles in eleven months—marketing all the while. In September, I went to Delight, Arkansas for an author event called ‘Super Signing’ and met a precious lady named DiAne Gates there. She invited me to join Heart”wings”, and I was glad to… I’d joined many groups to grow my author’s platform. But, the encouragement and unmerited support I found at Heart”wings” quickly set this group apart from all the rest.
My love for it and Joyce Graves grew exponentially. I’ve met so many new precious sisters and have all but abandoned many of the groups where I used to spend time. Every time I come to Heart”wings”, I discern the love of God and know beyond a shadow of a doubt this is His ministry. It came as such an honor when Joyce asked me to co-administer the group with her. I promised to pray about it. I did and talked to Ron (husband), too. I’d been so very busy…and questioned whether I should take on something else.
Then the next morning, I awoke with a new song—God gives me new songs—in my head about Heart”wings”, and I knew He wanted me to say yes! I did and have never looked back. I oft wonder if all that I’ve learned about marketing, branding, and building platforms wasn’t for only for “me and my books”, but as much for this exciting group that He so quickly bound my heart to for His glory!
I want to also give thanks to my daughter-in-love, Janis McAdoo, for this wonderful blogging site. She is its designer and maintains it for Heart”wings”. And I know she did all this work as unto the Lord to advance His Kingdom! Her company Rocksteady Resolutions has opened a ministry to help those in need of a website presence and assistance with their marketing.
And one more thing! Regarding that “Heart”wings”” new song God gave me! I’ve videoed it and this morning, published it on YouTube! Want to hear it? Heart”wings” new song!
From Joyce: In conclusion, I will add that Caryl and I pray for one another daily. God brought us into each other’s lives to be used with loving obedient hearts joined together for His purpose and glory. I know that we both feel in our own hearts that He has changed each of us forever.
